ポンティアックというのは地名を指しているようです。ブランキーに慣れすぎてると車の方のポンティアックを想起してしまいますが...
1987年のポンティアックをローマ法王が訪れたのは本当のことのようです。
Jumbo’sというのはアメリカに実際にあるバーのようで、Protomartyrの1stアルバムでは曲名にすら掲げられています。
辛辣な皮肉が含められていてとてもいい歌詞だと思います。曲もどことなく物悲しさがあっていいです。パンクバンドがこういう一面見せるとコロッとやられてしまうんですよね...
